Russian Translation of the Text of the Constitution of the European Union

PRESS RELEASE

On October 29, 2004, the ceremony of signing by the 25 member states of the European Union of the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe (EU Constitution) took place in Rome. This Treaty is to replace the Treaties of Rome, Maastricht, Amsterdam and Nice.

The EU Constitution is due to enter into force on January 1, 2007, after its ratification by the national parliaments of all member states.

Due to the great interest shown in the text of the Constitution in Russia, the Foreign Ministry has prepared its unofficial translation into the Russian language.
