UN Security Council President's Statement to the Press

On June 3 the President of the UN Security Council made a statement noting that the members of the SC condemn in the strongest possible terms the attack on the employees of the Russian Embassy in Baghdad on June 3 that left one embassy employee dead and four others, including one diplomat, kidnapped. The members of the Security Council demanded that the hostages be treated humanely and released immediately.

The Council members also reaffirmed their support for the Iraqi people, their condemnation of terrorist attacks in Iraq, and their determination to combat all forms of terrorism.
