On the Russian-Swiss consultations

On September, 24th the consultations of the coordinators of the Russian-Swiss cooperation - the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia V.G. Titov and the State Secretary of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland I. Rossier took place in Bern.

The parties noted the high rate of development of interaction in various areas that was set during the top-level summits in 2009-2011. The schedule of the forthcoming political contacts and meetings of the members of the foreign ministries was discussed, including the meetings within the frames of the financial dialogue, and mutual interest in preserving their intensity was stated. A number of practical questions of the bilateral agenda was considered, the further steps on the enhancement of the contractual and legal base with a view of deepening the cooperation in trade and economy, transport, law-enforcement, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres were planned.

The exchange of opinions on the topical international subjects took place, including the situation in Syria, the Middle-Eastern settlement, and the Iranian nuclear programme. Taking into account the preparation to the presidency of Switzerland in the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe in 2014, the parties discussed the key issues of operation of this Organization, the agenda of the session of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of OSCE, which is planned for the December of this year in Dublin, and touched the problems of "prolonged conflicts" on the territory of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
