Press release on the sixth meeting of the Russian-Chinese Working Group on coordinating the EAEU development plans and the Belt and Road Initiative
On December 19, Moscow hosted the sixth meeting of the Russian-Chinese Working Group on coordinating the development plans of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Belt and Road Initiative, established in accordance with the Joint Statement of the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China dated May 8, 2015. The Russian delegation was led the Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador at Large Kirill Barsky and the Chinese delegation by Ambassador at Large Yue Bin.
During the meeting, the parties praised the integration work carried out during 2019 and reaffirmed their readiness to promote it further as well as to strengthen the planning and systematic character of the practice-oriented cooperation.
The participants welcomed the agreement on trade and economic cooperation between the EAEU and its member states on one hand and China on the other that came into effect on October 25, 2019, and spoke in favour of the immediate implementation of this agreement.
The participants discussed specific ways of ensuring the parallel and coordinated promotion of the Greater Eurasian Partnership and the Belt and Road initiatives.
The seventh meeting of the Working Group is scheduled to take place in Beijing in the second half of 2020.
