Question: The sudden media focus on the Malaysian Boeing – is this timing merely coincidental ahead of the Russian-Malaysian negotiations?

Sergey Lavrov: Naturally, this is no coincidence. It is clear to all that this was deliberately orchestrated in an attempt to cast a shadow over the visit. It has failed. Our Malaysian friends understand perfectly well what this is about.

Throughout all these years, we have maintained close contact with them. They recognise that those who undertook this investigation did so without integrity. The facts are overwhelming. One need only consider that the Ukrainians never provided their radar data – unlike us. The Americans never shared their satellite data, yet the judges in The Hague recorded, as it were, that the United States had told them, citing their satellite data, that Russia was responsible – “We believe them.” But this is not how jurisprudence operates.
