Reply by Foreign Ministry Spokesman Alexander Lukashevich on Latvia’s decision to ban a Paris exhibition about child prisoners of Salaspils concentration camp
Question: How would you comment on the recent decision of the Latvian Government to ban the exhibition "Hijacked Childhood. Victims of the Holocaust as Seen by Child Prisoners of the Salaspils Nazi Concentration Camp," which was due to take place in Paris?
Alexander Lukashevich: We were outraged by this unprecedented move by the country that currently holds the European Union presidency to block the historic-documentary exhibition "Hijacked Childhood. Victims of the Holocaust as Seen by Child Prisoners of the Salaspils Nazi Concentration Camp," which was scheduled to take place at the UNESCO headquarters. Evidently, Riga is still incapable of distancing itself from the faulty course of rehabilitating Nazism and condoning Neo-Nazi elements, which tarnish the international reputation of Latvia.
