Comment by the Information and Press Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the conclusion of the National Dialogue Conference in the Republic of Yemen
The final meeting of the National Dialogue Conference in the Republic of Yemen was held on the 25 January. Delegates from different political parties and movements, NGOs, feminist and youth associations agreed on collective decisions regarding the most significant social, economic and political problems faced by the Yemeni community.
They have gained an understanding that Yemen should be a laic and modern democratic state, where equality and the rights of the population are ensured by a new federative state system. The latter aspect acquires special meaning, because it is necessary to find a consensus decision to resolve the problem in the south of the country.
We note the importance of the success achieved by Yemenis during this nationwide forum which has come to an end. According to the CCASG initiative and UNSC resolutions 2014 and 2051, its participants were able to lay the foundations for the stabilisation and further development of the Republic of Yemen.
We express a hope that implementation of the decisions reached by this Conference as soon as possible, will open a path for the practical overcoming of the political, economic and social difficulties faced by Yemen, the implementation of the fair expectations and aspirations of the Yemeni people for a normal life, and an increase in the social and economic welfare of the population of the country. Russia will continue to support Yemen on its way to the reforms and transformations, bilaterally and in interaction with ten countries, guarantors of the implementation of inter-Yemeni agreements.
