International Conference “The Increasing Role of Russian Language in the BRICS and SCO Countries: Education, Language and Culture” started in Delhi

On March 12, the International Conference “The Increasing Role of Russian Language in the BRICS and SCO Countries: Education, Language and Culture” started in the Bharati College, Delhi. The event is organized by the University
of Delhi with the assistance of the Russian Embassy in India.

Dr Girish Munjal, Head of the Department of Slavonic and Finno-Ugrian Studies, University of Delhi, delivered opening remarks to the conference participants.

During the event, a welcoming address on behalf of Prof Ivan Melnikov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, was delivered.

The Bharati College students jointly with Lada Folk Group, a group of Russian compatriots, presented a rich cultural programme to the guests.

The two-day conference will include lectures by prominent Russian and Indian teachers, thematic presentations and workshops.
