On International Conference «Crimes of Japanese Militarism: Historical Dimension and Contemporary Perspective»
On September 28th the Diplomatic Academy of the MFA of Russia held a joint International Conference «Crimes of Japanese militarism: historical dimension and contemporary perspective». The greetings of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov to the participants emphasized the topicality and timeliness of the discussions organized, the absence of limitation period for the crimes of Japanese militarism.
Representatives of Russian academic circles together with authoritative international experts from Asian states discussed the aggressive policy of the Japanese military in the context of historical experience and the present. It was noted that official Tokyo has not learned the lessons of its militaristic past, and does not feel any remorse for the military aggression against the states of the Asia-Pacific region, including the USSR. The participants recalled the mass manifestations of brutality by the Japanese army against the population of those countries and prisoners of war, inhuman experiments conducted by the infamous "731 Detachment".
Most Russian and foreign speakers agreed that a broad discussion about Japanese war crimes, in particular about the program for the creation and testing of bacteriological weapons, is of particular relevance in the context of the revealed facts of American military biological activity in Ukraine.
In the Diplomatic Academy, for the first time, the full certified text in Russian of the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, which is stored in the State Archives of the Russian Federation, was presented for public viewing.
