Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov Meets with Eritrean President Isaias Afewerki

PRESS RELEASE

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov met President of the State of Eritrea Isaias Afewerki in New York on September 21.

The interlocutors exchanged views on pressing international and regional problems with emphasis on tackling the hotbeds of tension in Africa. They devoted special attention to the prospects of normalizing Eritrean-Ethiopian relations, to the humanitarian crisis in the Horn of Africa area and to the situation in Somalia.

The sides reaffirmed their mutual keenness to further develop Russia-Eritrea political dialogue and economic and trade cooperation.
