Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov Converses with Cyprus President Demetris Christofias

PRESS RELEASE

On September 24, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov had a conversation with President Demetris Christofias of the Republic of Cyprus during the 65th United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The parties discussed a number of practical matters relating to the preparation of an upcoming official visit to the Republic of Cyprus by President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev on October 7-8. They also exchanged views on topical issues in Russia-Cyprus relations, which are marked by positive dynamics.

The parties spoke in favor of achieving a just, comprehensive and viable settlement in Cyprus based on the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
