Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto on the margins of the 24th OSCE Ministerial Council
On December 7, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a meeting with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto on the sidelines of the 24th OSCE Ministerial Council in Vienna.
Pursuant to the agreements reached during talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on August 28, 2017 in Budapest, the ministers discussed a range of practical issues in Russia-Hungary relations with a focus on priority projects in the economy and in energy.
Mr Lavrov and Mr Szijjarto exchanged views on current international issues. Regarding the crisis in Ukraine, they expressed serious concern for Kiev’s current policy of imposing the exclusive Ukrainian language requirement on education in the country, which would adversely affect the status of ethnic minorities.
