Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s telephone conversation with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto

On June 22, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto on the latter’s initiative. The ministers discussed the situation in light of US strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities.

The Russian side emphasised that the US bomb and missile strikes delivered on the territory of a sovereign state represented a new and dangerous escalation of the conflict, which could have unpredictable consequences and has already caused damage to the nuclear non-proliferation regime, as well as to regional and global security.

The ministers also discussed various aspects of Russia-Hungarian relations.
