Comment by the Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the terrorist attack in Pakistan

On 16 December, the Taliban Movement of Pakistan attacked a school in Peshawar, taking the students hostage. As a result, over a hundred people, most of them children, have died and dozens have been wounded.

Russia firmly condemns this barbaric attack by terrorists and their wanton cruelty to children. We hope the organisers and executors of this inhuman attack will be called to account. We offer our condolences to the families and friends of the deceased and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.

We support the measures taken by the Pakistani government to root out terrorist nests. We hope Islamabad will continue its uncompromising efforts to eradicate the infrastructure of extremism. Russia is committed to supporting the antiterrorist efforts of the Pakistani authorities.
