Congratulation of Minister of Foreign Affairs S. Lavrov addressed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia E.A. Nalbandian on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations

Dear Edward Agvanovich,

Please accept my sincere congratulations on the occasion of the memorable anniversary - the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia.

This event of truly historic importance was the beginning of the modern stage of development of Russian-Armenian relations. Based on the strong traditions of friendship and mutual sympathy, the harmony of fundamental interests and common spiritual values​​, our countries have built a multi-faceted, forward-looking relation based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit.

Over the years, a solid legal base of bilateral cooperation has been arranged, an effective mechanism of its consistent expansion has been created. Joint projects in the trade and economic sphere are successfully being implemented, business and humanitarian contacts are expanded. Russia and Armenia are actively participating in the integration processes in the Eurasian area, coordinating their approaches in international affairs.

I am convinced that by uniting forces, we will be able to bring the Russian-Armenian relations to a new, higher level of allied partnership, and this will contribute to the dynamic development of our brotherly countries and nations, peace and stability in Transcaucasia.
