Presentation of Credentials by Russian Ambassadors in Abkhazia and South Ossetia

PRESS RELEASE

Ambassadors of the Russian Federation S. V. Grigoryev to the Republic of Abkhazia and E. K. Kargiyev to the Republic of South Ossetia on December 16 in Sukhum and Tskhinval presented their credentials to the Presidents of these states, Sergey Bagapsh and Eduard Kokoity.

This event is a logical sequel to the recognition of the independence of these two Caucasian republics by the Russian Federation, the establishment of diplomatic relations and signing of the treaties of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance with them.

This is an important step along the road of forging all-round interstate interaction between the Russian Federation, and the republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The establishment of the Russian diplomatic missions in Sukhum and Tskhinval will facilitate developing and deepening such cooperation in all areas, forming its juridical base and, ultimately, ensuring security and stability in Transcaucasia.
