Question: Could you confirm the information about the meeting between the Deputy Foreign Minister, Igor Morgulov, and his Japanese colleague, Shinsuke Sugiyama, which is scheduled for the end of August.
Answer: Indeed, Moscow scheduled Russian-Japanese consultations at deputy foreign minister level for this time. However, we believe that such a meeting is inappropriate against the background of new anti-Russian sanctions by Japan. Therefore, these consultations were postponed. We have informed Japan about this.
