Statement by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the shooting at the Russian border checkpoint by Ukraine

Today Ukrainian forces attacked the Russian border checkpoint at Novoshakhtinsk by shooting at it. Damage was caused. A customs employee was severely wounded.

Russia would like to express a decisive protest with regard to this aggressive action. We request from Kiev an urgent and immediate investigation of all the consequences of this crime, which violated elementary norms and principles of international law.

It concerns a direct provocation, the goal of which is to prevent the implementation of the Geneva agreements and about faster de-escalation of the internal Ukrainian conflict.

How can this correlate with the cessation of military actions, which the Kiev authorities announced today?
