Press release on Portuguese Foreign Minister Augusto Santos Silva’s visit to Moscow
On February 25-26, Foreign Minister of Portugal Augusto Santos Silva was in Moscow on a working visit.
During the course of substantive talks at the Russian Foreign Ministry, the two foreign ministers discussed current Russian-Portuguese relations and mapped out ways of intensifying bilateral cooperation in various areas.
In particular, there was agreement on the need to stimulate the use of bilateral trade and economic potential, as well as investment cooperation, streamline the legal base, expand inter-regional ties, and build up contacts and projects in the cultural and humanitarian field.
As for the international agenda, the two ministers focused on current relations between Russia and the EU and NATO. They also discussed the situation around Ukraine, in Syria and Libya. They also touched on issues relating to problems on the African and Latin American continents.
