Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s telephone conversation with German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel
On February 7, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany Sigmar Gabriel. The call was initiated by the German side.
Following the telephone conversation between President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel held the same day, the ministers talked about ways to invigorate the Normandy format efforts towards the implementation of the Minsk Agreements on the settlement of the crisis in Ukraine, including by ensuring safety in the conflict zone and promoting the political process.
The ministers also discussed Russian-German relations and the schedule for upcoming political contacts and major multilateral events, including the meeting of the G20 foreign ministers in Bonn, Germany (February 16−17) and the Munich Security Conference (February 17−19).
Sergey Lavrov invited his German colleague to visit Russia at his convenience.
