Press release on the exchange of greetings between Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Foreign Minister of Chile Teodoro Ribera on the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations
Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Foreign Minister of the Republic of Chile Teodoro Ribera exchanged messages of greetings on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Chile (the event was marked on December 11, 2019).
The foreign ministers noted that the establishment and development of relations between the two countries had a long history and valued highly their current status. They pledged their commitment to continue to work jointly to promote the constructive dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation between their countries.
In particular, Sergey Lavrov mentioned the reliable foundation for cooperation with Chile in the bilateral and multilateral formats, including at the UN and APEC, and the existing mechanisms for maintaining the dialogue between Russia and integration associations in Latin America. He also emphasised the two countries’ commitment to efforts to enhance global stability and to observe the rules and principles of international law.
Teodoro Ribera highlighted the proximity of the two countries’ positions regarding important international matters and the significance of efforts to consistently tap the potential of bilateral trade and economic ties, which are dynamically developing, including within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union.
