Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with Executive Vice-President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Delcy Rodriguez and Minister of Foreign Affairs Jorge Arreaza

On September 27, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Executive Vice-President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Delcy Rodriguez and Minister of Foreign Affairs Jorge Arreaza on the sidelines of the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The officials discussed current topics concerning the bilateral agenda, cooperation at the UN and other international venues, as well as the situation in Venezuela and Latin America as a whole. The Russian minister pointed out the importance of finding political solutions to the internal differences in Venezuela without any destructive, let alone military foreign interference.

The sides spoke in favour of lifting the illegal US unilateral sanctions against Venezuela without delay. They also signed a plan for consultations between their ministries for 2019−2022.
