Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s telephone conversation with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry

On August 10, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.

The ministers exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East, with emphasis on the state of affairs in and around Syria. They stressed the importance of continued active efforts for a prompt political resolution to the crisis, including the mobilisation of international support for reaching a national consent in Syria.

The parties also discussed practical steps to further strengthen the Russian-Egyptian foreign policy cooperation.
