On September 18, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Under-Secretary-General of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office Vladimir Voronkov on the sidelines of the General Debate of the 72^nd UN General Assembly in New York.

Mr Lavrov welcomed the appointment of Mr Voronkov to the office and assured him of Russia’s support for the Office’s activities. During the meeting, the officials discussed the issues of increasing UN anti-terrorism agencies’ efficiency and improving their coordination, with an emphasis on building up the counter-terrorism capabilities of states.
