Press release on the presidential election in Malawi
On June 23, a presidential election took place in the Republic of Malawi. According to the official data published by the Malawi Electoral Commission, the candidate from the opposition Malawi Congress Party, Lazarus Chakwera, won the election, with 58.6 percent of votes. According to international observers, the voting took place in a calm and peaceful atmosphere without serious violations.
On June 28, the newly elected President Lazarus Chakwera took oath.
