Assistance to Israel in Dealing with Consequences of Large-Scale Forest Fire
PRESS RELEASE
A huge forest fire broke out near the city of Haifa in Israel on December 2, reportedly killing 40 people and leaving others injured or missing. Considerable material damage has been caused.
The Israeli leadership asked a number of countries, including Russia, for help in dealing with the consequences of this natural disaster.
President Dmitry Medvedev responded by ordering the Emergency Situations Ministry to send rescue workers and airplanes to help put out the fire.
No Russian nationals were hurt, according to preliminary reports from the Embassy of Russia in Israel.
A condolence telegram has been sent to the Israeli leadership on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation.
