State Reception on the occasion of Russia Day
On June 12, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Cameroon organised an official reception to mark Russia Day. H.E. Joseph BETI ASSOMO, Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, H.E. Felix MBAYU, Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations, H.E. Mohamadou SAOUDI, Secretary General of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, H.E. Blaise Jacques NKENE, Secretary General of the Ministry of Arts and Culture, Rear Admiral Jean MENDOUA, Chief of the Naval Staff, members of the Cameroonian Parliament, representatives of the diplomatic corps, business community and civil society, graduates of Soviet and Russian universities, and Russian compatriots attended the event.
In his speech, H.E. Mr Georgy TODUA, Russian Ambassador to Yaoundé, noted that the world is going through a period of profound and complex transformation, and that a new architecture of international relations, fairer and more equitable, is taking shape, in which the countries of the Global South, including those of Africa, are taking their rightful place as drivers of development for all mankind. The head of the diplomatic mission stressed that despite the sanctions imposed by Western countries seeking to maintain their domination of world politics and economics, the Russian Federation is successfully facing up to all the challenges.
The reception featured videos on Russian history, science and culture, as well as photo exhibitions on the history of bilateral relations between Russia and Cameroon and the evolution of the Eurasian Economic Union.
