Unofficial translation from Russian
On October 20 Igor Yusufov, the Russian President's Special Envoy for International Energy Cooperation and a Foreign Ministry Ambassador at Large, met with US Ambassador to Moscow Alexander Vershbow.
During the conversation, topical questions of Russian-American cooperation in the energy sector were discussed, including specific energy investment projects planned or already being carried out with the participation of leading US oil and gas companies.
There was noted the progress in developing the Russian-American energy dialogue. Various aspects linked to the prospect of substantially increasing Russian energy supplies to the US market, including development of new fields and technologies, and of widening export infrastructure, as well as the possibility of American firms becoming involved in the implementation of those projects were examined in detail. In this connection the American side underscored the importance for potential investors of there being transparent and stable "rules of the game" in the Russian market, and noted that the adoption of a new Subsoil Law in Russia would serve the further improvement of its investment image. The significance of the creation in Russia of capacities and infrastructure for entering the American market with liquefied natural gas was particularly emphasized.
