Comment by the Information and Press Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the terrorist attack in Kenya
In the evening of the 21 September, a group of armed persons shot visitors of the Westgate Shopping Centre in Nairobi, Capital city of Kenya. Hostages are still being hold. The Somalian extremist organisation al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for this terrorist attack.
Special police units and armed troops of Kenya conduct an operation to deactivate criminals. Dozens of people, including children, have become victims of terrorists.
According to available data, there were no Russian nationals among the victims.
Moscow is outraged by this ruthless crime and expresses a hope that its organizers and performers receive the punishment they deserve.
In this tough time we join people and government of Kenya, sympathise with grieves of friends and family of those, who were killed, and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.
