On May 12, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Cameroon hosted a reception on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The meeting was attended by compatriots living in Yaounde and Douala, as well as Cameroonian graduates of Soviet and Russian universities.

In his speech, H.E. Georgy Todua, Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Cameroon, emphasised that Victory Day is a sacred holiday celebrated by all citizens of Russia and friends of Russia with special feelings, and the traditions of the memory of the Great Victory on 9 May are carefully maintained and passed on from generation to generation.

M. François Ngan Tonye, Chairman of the Association of former students of Russian and Soviet Universities “Soyuzniki”, noted that the victory over Nazism in 1945 is one of the most important events in the history of mankind, in which Russia played a decisive role.
