Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov on May 7 during his stay in Washington presented the Order of Friendship to the leading American public figure, the former director of the Guggenheim Museum New York, Thomas Krens, which was conferred on him in accordance with a Decree of President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.

Speaking at the formal ceremony, Lavrov noted the significant contribution of Thomas Krens to the development and popularization of modern art, especially mentioning his contribution to strengthening Russian-American cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian spheres.
