Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov Meets with US President Barack Obama

On July 13 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, while on an official visit to Washington, was received by US President Barack Obama.
Key aspects of bilateral relations were touched upon, with emphasis on the completion of the process of the accession of Russia to the WTO and the continuation of the dialogue on US missile defense plans and their influence on strategic stability.
In examining the international agenda, the main attention was devoted to the situation in the Middle East and North Africa. The Russian side underscored the need to intensify efforts towards a politico-diplomatic settlement of the problems associated with Iran's nuclear program.
