Due to the wide public interest in the trial of the criminal case against Tatyana Khuzhina, a citizen of the Russian Federation accused of an attempt to smuggle a two-kopeck coin dating back to 1823, in the Dushanbe Shah Mansur Regional Court, please be informed that on August 21, 2017, the court announced its verdict, fining Ms Khuzhina 5,000 somonis (about 33,000 roubles, which is the minimum punishment for this offence). Before the decision comes into legal force, Ms Khuzhina will be under the pledge not to leave the country.

The Russian Foreign Ministry and the Russian Embassy in Tajikistan have been closely watching the trial from the beginning, keeping in touch with the Tajik party via diplomatic channels in order to protect the interests of the Russian citizen.
