Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks during talks with Slovenian Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec, Moscow, October 12, 2017
Karl,
We are very glad to welcome you and your colleagues.
I believe that bilateral relations are on a very stable trajectory. Last July, Russian President Vladimir Putin paid a visit to Slovenia. In February, we received Slovenian President Borut Pahor.
Parliamentarians from Slovenia are currently participating in the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly in St Petersburg, where bilateral contacts will take place as well. Deputy Foreign Minister Yury Meshkov has participated in the latest Strategic Forum in the city of Bled.
This year we are holding quite a few events to celebrate the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations, including in the cultural sphere. We are currently holding Cross-Cultural Seasons. We will also hold Ljubljana Days in Moscow by the end of this year, while next year Slovenia will hold St Petersburg Days. In August, the Mariinsky Theatre was on tour in Slovenia. The Forum of Slavic Cultures, our joint project, is also up and running.
