On September 29, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Republic of Slovenia Karl Erjavec during the 70^th UN General Assembly session in New York.

Mr Lavrov and Mr Erjavec expressed satisfaction with the sustained development of Russian-Slovenian cooperation in various areas. They agreed to continue their efforts to promote partnership in various economic sectors within a programme to implement the relevant intergovernmental memorandum. They reaffirmed their interest in maintaining strong cultural-humanitarian ties, including war memorial issues and to further streamline the legal framework of bilateral relations.

They exchanged opinions on current issues and international problems and focused on the situation in Ukraine, the struggle against terrorism and the events in the Middle East.

Mr Lavrov and Mr Erjavec signed off on a meeting schedule between the Russian and Slovenian foreign ministries for 2016.
