Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s answers to questions from Telesur television network, Moscow, April 16, 2015
Sergey Lavrov: We very much value our relations with Latin America. This is a big world, and I’m sure it is also one of the strongest and most important parts of the multipolar system that’s being formed and which will ensure the stability of international relations.
Question: What is your view on Latin America’s stance regarding support for Russia under these difficult circumstances?
You see, it’s not that we hope for anyone’s support. We have common values and principles that, as it happens, are fully and impartially shared by the peoples of Latin America. We want to live the way our peoples want to live, we want equal collaboration with all countries, we want to draw mutual benefit from joint projects in the fields of economy, investment, trade, science, culture, and generally in all the fields of human activity. We want the world to be based on the consensus among the centres of development, including Latin America, Eurasia, and the Russian Federation, and we want the rules, which were laid down after WWII and enshrined in the UN Charter, to be universal and respected and followed by all.
