According to incoming reports, 52 people died in a stampede during celebrations of the traditional holiday of the Oromo ethnic group in the city of Bishoftu (40 km to the south-west of Addis Ababa). The incident occurred when law enforcers tried to curb the actions of people chanting anti-government slogans.
