República Árabe de Egipto
Comment by the Information and Press Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding another terrorist attack in Egypt
On the 16 February, a suicide bomber attacked a bus carrying South Korean tourists in Taba, Egypt, in the Sinai Peninsula, not far from the border with Israel. 4 persons, including the Egyptian bus driver died, and many South Korean nationals were wounded. According to available data, there were no Russians among the victims of the terrorist attack.
We extend our condolences to the families and friends of the dead, as well as wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded, and we confirm our principled position of decisive condemnation of any terrorist attacks, including those against foreign tourists. Once again we express our solidarity with the actions of the Egyptian authorities to stabilise the situation in the country, its decisive steps to counteract terrorism and extremism.
We deem it necessary to confirm earlier recommendations by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to Russian travellers in Egypt, to be cautious, to stay within resort areas and to refrain from visiting large cities and regions, where there are high risks of terrorism and crime.
