Press release on the opening of the International Conference Language Technologies for All at UNESCO

On December 4-6, the UNESCO headquarters will host the International Conference Language Technologies for All (LT4All): Enabling Linguistic Diversity and Multilingualism Worldwide in Paris as part of the 2019 International Year of Indigenous Languages.

The event is organised by the Government of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area – Yugra in partnership with the Russian Committee of the UNESCO Information for All Programme (IFAP) and the European Language Resources Association (ELRA). 

The Russian delegation is led by Governor of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area – Yugra Natalya Komarova and Head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs of the Russian Federation Igor Barinov. They will present reports on the language policy of the Russian Federation. Scientists, linguists and researchers of language technologies from Russia and foreign countries will take part in thematic roundtable discussions on the evolution of the conditions for language diversity and multilingualism.

The exhibition “Indigenous Minorities of the North. Languages. Technologies” will be held on the sidelines of the conference. Its participants will present an e-depository on the folklore of the Ob-Ugrians and Samoyeds, which was made by the Ob-Ugric Institute of Applied Research and Development. Craftsmen of the Torum Maa Khanty-Mansi Ethnographic Museum and artists of the Solntse (Sun) Theatre of the Ob-Ugrian Peoples will conduct workshops for the conferees. Ugrian singer Vera Kondratyeva, the winner of national and international arts festivals, will perform for the audience.
