On March 16-17 a third meeting of the Round Table on the Fight Against Corruption took place at the Russian MFA. It was organized jointly with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

In the course of the event a Russian Federation report on the legislative, legal and institutional base in the area of fighting corruption, prepared within the framework of Russia's accession to the OECD Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions and entry into the Organization's working group of the same name, was discussed.

The officials from Russian ministries and departments in overall charge of anti-corruption efforts, entrepreneurs and public organizations as well as international experts and workers from the OECD took part.

A constructive exchange of views on a broad range of anti-corruption issues took place. The remarkable progress made in Russia in combating this phenomenon was noted, and the purposive measures taken by the Russian leadership to create a solid legislative and institutional anti-corruption basis were welcomed.

At the end of the meeting it was emphasized that Russia has considerably advanced in the area of the struggle against corruption, a confirmation of which is the admission of our country as a full-fledged member into the Egmont Group and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

The next working meeting on the final elaboration of the criteria for our accession to the above Convention and entry into the anti-corruption working group of the Convention will take place in the framework of a meeting of the Russian Federation-OECD Liaison Committee to be held in September.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrei Denisov spoke at the event.
