Press release on a meeting between the Foreign Minister of Russia and the heads of international and UN organisations based in Geneva

On February 25, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with the heads of international organisations and UN agencies based in Geneva. The meeting was attended by Director-General of the UN Office in Geneva Tatyana Valovaya, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, Director-General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Francis Gurry, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer, The UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen, UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Libya Ghassan Salame, Director-General of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Guy Ryder, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)  Houlin Zhao and  Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) Olga Algayerova.

Meeting attendees conducted an engaged and productive exchange of views on a broad range of issues concerning Russia’s contacts with the above UN agencies and its diverse cooperation with these international organisations with a view to resolving practical matters in accordance with their mandates.
