Bengal Global Business Summit in Kolkata
The fifth edition of Bengal Global Business Summit 2019 (BGBS), aimed at developing West Bengal trade and investment potential and positioned by the state government as a major economic event of the year, was held at the Biswa Bangla Convention Center on February 7-8, 2019.
Consul General of the Russian Federation in Kolkata Mr Alexey Idamkin, Chief Minister of West Bengal Ms Mamata Banerjee, leading Indian industrialists, foreign delegates, representatives of Delhi and Kolkata diplomatic corps and media took part in the Summit.
The Russian delegation was headed by Mr Boris Kabakov, Director of the Department of the Shipbuilding Industry and Marine Equipment of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, who was accompanied by Dr Yaroslav Tarasyuk, Trade Representative of Russia in India, and leadership of Russian companies “State Transport Leasing Company”, “United Shipbuilding Corporation” and JSC “Shipbuilding & Shiprepair Technology Center”. Among the BGBS-2019 attendees were the executives of Russian companies “Bee Pitron”, offering specialized data-centers, and “Beamcomplex”, a manufacturer of sterilization complexes for medical and food products.
The Russian participants had productive meetings in B2B and B2G formats, including with Dr Amit Mitra, Minister of Finance, Industry and MSME, and Mr Debashis Sen, IAS, Additional Сhief Secretary, Information Technology and Electronics Department, as well as other senior officials of the Government of West Bengal.
