Comment by the Information and Press Department on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s participation in the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers meeting
An online CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers meeting is scheduled to be held on December 1 in the run-up to a CSTO Collective Security Council session to be chaired by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Sergey Lavrov will update his colleagues about the outcomes of Russia’s CSTO chairmanship, present Russia’s assessments of the current international and regional situation and its prospects, as well as its impact on stability within the CSTO space.
There will be an exchange of views on important security issues and improving the CSTO’s effectiveness, practical aspects of strengthening interaction between member states within the Organisation and in the international arena, cooperation between the CSTO and the UN, including as part of peacekeeping activities sponsored by this world organisation.
A number of documents and political statements will be approved and submitted for approval by the heads of the CSTO member states during the upcoming December 2 session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
Foreign Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Mukhriddin will present the organisation's priority areas of focus during Tajikistan’s CSTO chairmanship, which it will take over from Russia at the CSTO Collective Security Council session on December 2.
