Mr Lavrov stressed the importance and popularity of his studies for building Russia’s foreign policy course on the global stage in today’s difficult conditions.

The participants also remembered Anatoly Dobrynin’s extraordinary personal qualities, his highly professional and open manner of communication with partners and willingness for dialogue, always combined with the firm protection of Russia’s interests.

Special anniversary greetings from the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres were read.

Awards were presented to the winners of the contest of essays on Anatoly Dobrynin’s diplomatic heritage. Employees of the ministry, Russian foreign ministers and education and scientific centres from various Russian cities took part in the contest.
