Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov Meets with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed Al Nahyan and UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah Al Nahyan

Within the framework of the first ministerial meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between Russia and the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) in Abu Dhabi on November 1, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov met with Mohammed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and also Abdullah Al Nahyan, United Arab Emirates Minister of Foreign Affairs.

They examined in detail the state of and prospects for Russian-UAE cooperation in different areas with emphasis on the need to further develop and diversify bilateral relations between our two countries. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advance political dialogue and coordination and commended the launch of the Russia-GCC Strategic Dialogue, meant to be a factor of stability for the regional situation.

Key issues in the development of the situation in the Middle East and North Africa were touched upon, with both sides noting the necessity of finding political solutions to conflicts on the basis of the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.
