Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Grushko met on May 24 with the Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers, Halldór Asgrimsson, who arrived in Moscow to attend a conference on cross-border cooperation in the Baltic Sea region.

During the conversation, a broad range of issues were examined relating to raising the effectiveness of international cooperation in the Baltic countries and the North of Europe as a whole and optimizing interaction between the multilateral mechanisms represented in the region, particularly in light of the launching of the renewed Northern Dimension.

The state of, and prospects for the further development of cooperation between Russia and the NCM in the areas of economy, environment protection, information technologies, education, health care as well as the expansion of contacts between people also were discussed.
