Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks during a meeting with President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, Cholpon-Ata, June 29, 2025
Mr Japarov,
First of all, I would like to convey warm greetings from President of Russia Vladimir Putin. Today, my counterpart, Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev, and I discussed, to what extent the highest-level dialogue was regular.
On May 9, when all of us were marking our common sacred date, the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, you had a conversation with Vladimir Putin, making plans for additional steps to promote our alliance and strategic partnership, including in the context of the anniversary you have mentioned. I am referring to the 25th anniversary of the Treaty on Eternal Friendship.
The heads of state set the tone in establishing interaction to address challenges arising in various areas. This makes it incumbent on us, foreign ministers, to be pro-active in ensuring the coordinated operation of all bodies of state power, primarily our governments, ministries and agencies.
Apart from our bilateral plans, we have regular tasks that are tackled within the framework of integration processes in our common space. I am referring to the CIS, the EAEU (you took part in the summit), and the CSTO which Kyrgyzstan currently chairs.
We are grateful for our proposals to the Kyrgyz Chairmanship’s agenda being taken into account. We vigorously support the Plan of Action. The CSTO Ministerial Council will hold its meeting tomorrow.
