Russia and Bangladesh to cooperate in the creation of “Bangabandhu-2” satellite

On February 2 this year a Memorandum of cooperation was signed between JSC “Glavkosmos” and “Bangladesh Satellite Company Ltd.” via videoconference.

The document declares the intentions to establish in Bangladesh remote Earth observation satellite system “Bangabandhu-2”, manufacturing of ground infrastructure (satellite ground stations) for acquiring Earth observation data from the Russian and foreign spacecraft, launch services, educational programs in space domains and commercial orbital flights.

Participants of the event – Mr Dmitry Loskutov, CEO of “Glavkosmos” JSC, Chairman and CEO of “Bangladesh Satellite Company Ltd.” Dr Shahjahan Mahmood, Hon’ble Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Mr Mustafa Jabbar, H.E. Ambassador of Russia to Bangladesh Mr Alexander Mantytskiy and H.E. Ambassador of Bangladesh to Russia Mr Kamrul Ahsan unanimously emphasized the friendly nature of Russia-Bangladesh relations. The significant contribution of Russia to the implementation of major projects in Bangladesh in compliance with the plans for the development of the national economy introduced by Founder of Bangladesh Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as well as the current government of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was highlighted.
