Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres

On September 25, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the 74^th Session of the UN General Assembly

The parties discussed the current threats to multipolarity and strategic stability. Views were exchanged on the most urgent international matters, including the situation in Syria, the Persian Gulf and other regional and international issues. The matter concerning Russia’s cooperation with the UN Secretariat was also brought up.

The sides agreed that progress in settling crises depends on the readiness of UN members to take concerted action on the basis of international law and the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.
