Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks during talks with Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, Moscow, September 9, 2021
Esteemed Mr Minister,
We are delighted to welcome you to Moscow. We have already spoken by phone to you, however, it gives me great pleasure to actually be meeting you in person. I would once again like to congratulate you on your appointment as foreign minister.
Symbolically, your visit is taking place on the eve of an outstanding date. It is the 30th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic ties between our countries.
These decades have proved that our relations have become mature, advanced and trustful, and that they are of benefit to the people of Russia and Israel. I hope that, today, we will take another step to expand these ties, and that we will discuss our bilateral relations, as well as regional and international affairs.
A warm welcome.
